Sharon E. Wright lives in Lisbon, Maine, between the Sabattus and Androscoggin Rivers. Her inherited interest in Maine tradition and history is evident in her original fly designs which have become her signature in the fly-tying community. Her great-great-great-grandfather was Joshua Gross Rich, one of Mainea (TM)s earliest and most prominent outdoor sporting pioneers of the famed Rangeley Lakes region. Sharon loves to share her passion for tying classic patterns and their histories, which has evolved into presentations, shows, and classes throughout the country. Her work reflects her heritage, the region, and her family history and has appeared in nationaland international publications.

Featherwing Streamers. The photography is simply breathtaking, the
history is a pleasant read that enlightened me, and the list of
patterns and tying steps could keep a tier busy forever. I've had
the opportunity to meet and get to know many fly tiers over the
years with my International Fly Tying Symposium and Fly Fishing
Shows. Sharon joined us not long ago and has immediately become a
favourite for many attendees. Not only is her tying table like an
artist's canvas, colourful and meticulously organised, she loves to
share her knowledge of tying. So now Sharon is an author. I'm so
happy for her, because her effort in writing her book demonstrates
the same attention to detail as her tying, her table displays at
the shows, and her rapport with show customers. Tying Heritage
Featherwing Streamers is definitely in an elite category of
its own and a centrepiece in any person's library.

What I take away from the book, though, beyond the dazzle and the
innovation, is the solid information about tying techniques.
Although it deals with a topic that has a well-defined tradition,
this really is a book written 'from a tier's perspective.' If you
tie, there are things you can learn here and use, whether you tie
featherwing streamers or not.

beautifully documented text on this tying style. Its details are

explained methodologies for creating these extraordinary
imitations. No tier can call themselves 'compleat' without having
carefully studied this book and making these techniques their
own.
